Who are we? We are the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 6123 for Windsor Locks, CT!

VFW Post 6123 belongs to VFW Third District in Connecticut. Post meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The House Committee meets at 6:30 PM followed by the general meeting at 7:00 PM. All are welcome at our meetings! If you have an interest in the VFW please don't hesitate to contact us to let us know you'll be coming!

So what are we all about?

This was taken straight from the official VFW site. It exemplifies what we stand for here at VFW Post 6123:

The VFW mission is to "honor the dead by helping the living" through veterans' service, community service, national security and a strong national defense.

What kind of service do we provide?

So what kinds of things do we do as an organization? Plenty! All of the charitable work we do is aimed at the veteran and the surrounding community of our Post.

VFW Post 6123 helps veterans whether they are in or out of the hospital. We give to such world-wide organizations as the USO, and we are an active participant in programs such as Operation Uplink. In this program the Post gives out phone cards to service personnel irregardless of being active, reserve, or National Guard so that they can call home to family. We especially target providing aid and comfort to wounded servicemen and women. This covers everything from older veterans who are hospitalized to younger veterans returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The VFW has also has given moneey to homeless vets, drug and alcohol rehab clinics, school programs and scouting programs. We also locally hold flag ceremonies on veteran's holidays and perform flag 'retirements' to destroy unserviceable U.S. flags.

As you can see the scope of operations for our Post is very broad. We do whatever we can to aid veterans and their families, as well as try to contribute as much as we can to the community.
